Our story

Family owned, Pittsburgh proud

Dutch Girl Cleaners opened in 1989 with a simple idea: treat every customer like a neighbour and every garment like our own. Thirty-five years later it is still the same family, and still exactly that.

We have grown from one shop to two, McKnight Road and Gibsonia, but the people behind the counter still know your name, and the people pressing your shirts in the back are the same ones who have been doing it for years.

From an everyday dress shirt to an heirloom wedding gown, every order gets the same attention. That is the whole business model, and it is the reason people drive past three other cleaners to get here.

What we stand for

Three things we will not trade away

  1. We know your name

    There is no ticket to lose. Your order is under your name and phone number, along with how you like your shirts done, because somebody here remembers.

  2. The work is done here

    Cleaning, pressing and finishing all happen in the shop you walk into. Nothing is bundled up and driven to a plant somewhere else.

  3. A real ready-by time

    You are given a time at the counter when you drop off, and it is the time the order is actually ready, not a hopeful estimate.

A family business in the literal sense: the owners are behind the counter and their sons are on the presses. This is everyone.
